With today’s announcement & release of the long awaited report on human sexuality entitled, “Journeying Together Faithfully”, the ***A has once again shown that they’d rather do a bad dye job on their theological gray hairs than just go ahead and pluck the offending hairs out. This report is a hideously bad dye job, the likes of which makes you wonder “WHY on earth would they do that?” and/or “Do they really think they’re fooling anyone with that?”

He also references the great longer-form commentary, Maybe OK to be Unrepentantly Gay in the ELCA, that the Rev. Paul McCain has posted over at Cyberbretheren. This posting also contains the press announcement that ***A released regarding the report — it’s a fascinating example of the relativistic, postmodern, humanism that has infected so much of mainline American pop-evangelicalism.

In essence, the ***A has decided to stay the course in their plan of incrementalism. This cop-out report recommends keeping the same policies that have been in place (as a sop to the more conservative folks), while at the same time recommending that their Bishops not enforce those policies (in a wink-wink nudge-nudge to their “codeword” allies & change agent buddies on the left).

Yup, that report certainly took a lot of courage to write & release…
