From the mouths of babes

Posts like this one help me feel better about the future of Confessional Lutheranism. They also help me feel justified in my view that the argument that contemporary and/or non-liturgical worship is necessary to “get the young folks” interested & attending church is BOGUS and largely a creation of baby-boomers (IMO the most selfish generation that’s ever been!).

If anything, given young people’s penchant for rebelling against their elders, that rebellion should increase the likelihood that current young folks will want liturgical services precisely because their immediate elders have tried to do away with them. I mean, please, what’s trotted out as “contemporary” worship was hardly contemporary 30 years ago when the folkie-addled boomers first began working their magic on the church. Today, it’s nothing more than moldy-oldies - a caricature of itself, and a sadly lame attempt at being “hip” and “relevant.”

Substance over style. Function over form. Truth over relativism.

The kids get it. The kids want it. Let’s give it to them!
