AI: Wrap-up

Well, congrats to Carrie & all the “Carebears” out there. While I’m disappointed (though not as much as some of the “Bice Squad” members out there…), I really think that the end results are for the best. I think the AI producers are going to be happier with Carrie, at least in terms of the songs they chose for the initial singles — they are the traditional ballady type of songs that are much better suited for Carrie than for Bo. And I really can’t imagine Bo being happy singing those songs for the rest of his career! Carrie will get the guidance & training that she needs to really soar to the next level, and Bo will get the creative freedom he wants to be able to make the types of music/albums [note: saying "album" kind of dates me, doesn't it? ;-)] he wants to, needs to, and should be making, right from the get-go. I can’t wait until his first album/CD comes out!

[Edit - 050527 @ 12:51pm -- Check out this article, which quite nicely sums up my thoughts & feelings about Bo's 2nd place finish.]

I can’t really comment on the finale, as I haven’t seen the whole thing yet. We Tivoed the AI & LOST finales, and decided to just watch the actual result announcement on AI, deferring the rest of the show until later, so that we could watch LOST on Wednesday (if anyone wants to discuss what transpired in the finale of what I think is the best new show of this past TV season, just leave a comment, and I’ll write up an entry outlining my thoughts, and we can have at it from there…). I’ve heard/read generally good things about the finale, so I’m looking forward to seeing the whole thing. And who knows, maybe the final results will be different this time! ;-)
Also, for those who might be interested, check out WatchIdol.com. There, you’ll be able to find audio & video of all the performances from AI 1, 2, & 4 (with 3 promised soon). Do you Constantiniacs (yes, that means you, Theresa! :-D) want to be able to watch/listen to all of his performances (including the sublimely wonderful I Think I Love You & Bohemian Rhapsody? Go to WatchIdol.com & download them! Do you Claymates want to hear the Man sing his breakout performance of Solitaire? Go to WatchIdol.com & get it! I also highly recommend getting Justin Guarini’s rendition of Sunny & Kelly Clarkson’s awesome performance of Stuff Like That There from Season 1, along with Carrie’s Alone, Nadia’s There’s a Power & Try a Little Tenderness, and all of Bo’s songs!

Thanks to all y’all for indulging me in my reality-TV rantings over the past months. It’s been great to be able to vent/comment on this pop-culture fluff, particularly knowing that some of you care enough to read & comment on it. I don’t anticipate there being any regular entries on this type of thing over the summer (although H1T Me Baby One More Time on NBC, starting next Thursday could be quite interesting…), so it’ll be back to the largely theology-based entries for the foreseeable future. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

Lost! Lost! Lost! Let’s hear what you think!

Did you notice, by the way, that when Jack and Locke were on the plane, Jack was wearing black, and Locke was wearing white? Given that Locke now represents “faith,” and Jack represents “science,” I thought that was an interesting detail.
