Sligh slid.
All the way to a long wait for the summer tour.
Bummer.
He did seem to have lost his playful & snarky edge over the past weeks, and his performances certainly didn’t improve over time. If anything, they regressed. It’s a shame, as the “Not Yet Ready For South Beach” player skated by once again this week. As long as he’s in the competition, it’ll be a shame than anyone gets eliminated.
Seriously, it’s to the point now where I really think that we’ll see him stay in the competition long enough to cause a true firestorm of outrage (Outrage! I tell you!), in the form of a top-tier talent (i.e., LaKisha, Jordin, Melinda, or Blake) getting eliminated at the hands of the Fanjayas. Then, even the producers might not be fully pleased with the notoriety that comes with the publicity that they’re now embracing, because having the integrity of the whole competition & voting process doesn’t really help credibility. And it eventually will impact ratings.
Ah well, at least next week promises to be a good one — Tony Bennett Week!

Hey Glen! I found an interesting post on Sligh’s resurrected website. He offers some pretty telling insight into the AI machine. A good reminder that it is, first and foremost, a reality show and NOT a talent contest (unfortunately). See my blog for info…
Comment on March 29, 2007 09:12 pmI read some interesting stuff along those lines, too. I have to admit, though, that on a certain level I found his “I never really wanted to win…” quote to be problematic. That said, I still think he’s a really solid guy, and it’s too bad he had to go out when he did. Hopefully, his career will benefit from all this.
Also, it was interesting to see that there is a bit of a conspiracy theory out there, that his ouster was engineered by the producers because of his shout-out to “Dave” last week — with the “Dave” being the guy who runs VoteForTheWorst.com.
I don’t believe it, but I betcha it was fun to see the producers go apoplectic!
