AI:6 - Thank God it’s over
We made it — we survived the 5 month meat grinder that is American Idol!
The good: Jordin won!
The bad: Sanjaya ruined a perfectly good Joe Perry performance.
The ugly: Bird Lady. Yikes!
The “eh?”: Bette Midler & Doug E. Fresh.
The cool: Kelly Clarkson (still the Queen of AI & looking good in those thigh-high boots!). All the winners except for Fantasia! Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, & Tony Bennett!
Welcome back to: Haley’s legs & the rest of the top 12 finalists.
It’s still a little too early to try and put together a full post-mortem on AI:6, so I won’t even try. I’ll leave it at this: I’m glad that Jordin won, because it’s the first time since Kelly that the winner was both my favorite & the best/most appropriate contestant. That makes me happy.
I’m also happy because So You Think You Can Dance? (SYTYCD?) starts up again tonight! That show was the surprise of the summer for me last year, as I ended up liking it even more than AI. I just hope that the producers don’t mess with the formula too much & that they get a group of dancers who are as appealing as SYTYCD?:2’s group of Benji, Heidi, Allison (*sigh*), Natalie, Travis, Ivan, & Donyelle.
Anywhoo, thanks to all y’all who regularly stopped by here during the past 5 months to read my musings about AI:6. I certainly appreciate your time, attention, & traffic, and I hope that you found enough other interesting stuff that you’ll continue to stop by and/or read the feed for all of the rest of my thoughts, musings, rants, & observations (that means you, big sis!

I thought the show last night was great…until we discovered that we had left the DVR paused too long (Jenny was showing us her web page that she is doing for her “technology in the classroom” class) and it did not record the announcement of the winner! It was not pretty! Luckily the news had some footage so we saw it recreated! I really enjoyed the show…Jill and I begged Rob to quickly move over Sanjaya, the motown and beatles music all reminded me of my youth (vague though the memories are…) I wish they could have traded Chris Daughtry for Taylor Hicks—I really do not like listening to him or maybe it is just watching him. Kelly was great (I seem to see a common thread with your writing and the legs of contestants???)
