Well, it was quiet on the materials-received front last week.

Saturday netted only two more items:

• • A solicitation for donations to help continue the publishing “ministry” of Christian News, from Lutheran News, Inc. I put ministry in quotes mainly because I detest the over/misuse of that word into near meaninglessness. Perhaps the most interesting nugget to come from this mailing is that CN now has an official website. Good on the Otten children for moving the Editor along into a more credible cyberspace presence.
• • A slew of stuff from AFFIRM, including an opt-out form, a solicitation for contributions to AFFIRM, a white paper (A Layman’s Perspective: Understanding Recent CCM Opinions ), and the May 2007 issue of the AFFIRM newsletter. AFFIRM is, from all that I’ve read over the past 6 years, not what it once was in terms of being a relevant political force in the LCMS. It seems to be a creature of/representative for the “mushy middle” in Missouri, not really taking a stand for anything more than a “let’s all get along” status quo.
