Because he was asked about
A recent commenter not only asked about the Territorial Boston Terrier in a comment, he also did so at the recent LCMS convention (while I was waiting to talk at Microphone 5).
So, in the interest of disclosure, and because I like talking about the TBT — Hammie Burger Piper, (aka Hambone, aka Mr. Bone, aka The Dink…) — I will answer here.
In a word, Hammie is good. He’s an odd, unique, sweet, and ultimately kinda dumb little guy (the phrase “dumber than a bag of hammers” comes to mind…). But he loves us & we love him.
Here are some photos of Hammie, and, as a bonus, his cousins Ruby & Oliver. Click on the thumbnail to view the photoset.

If ever you’re a delegate…
You can look forward to this level of “stuff” to make its way to you…
The top half is “official” convention stuff (e.g., the workbook & various issues of “Today’s Business”), while the bottom half is the distillation (i.e., removal of envelopes) of all the pre-convention stuff I received, minus issues of Christian News…
It might not look like all that much, but trust me, it is. It’s really quite amazing just how much stuff gets sent out to delegates. Those folks who think that there is no politics in the church have NO IDEA.

Houston: Decompression & Aftermath
Man, I really dropped the ball this past week.
I had such high hopes for blogging during the convention. I thought that I’d have no problem providing an ongoing commentary on events, people, & the general zeitgeist.
I was wrong.
WAY wrong.
I’m still too exhausted & raw from the whole experience to try and put it into words.
I’m glad I did it. I met a whole lot of nice folks, had a lot of laughs, & learned a lot.
I also had lows lower than any of the highs. I experienced frustration, anger, and, yes, despair.
Over the coming days & weeks, I hope to string some words together on this whole experience that might be of interest to y’all. On a personal level, I think I have an interesting story or two to tell, and on a synodical level, I think that I have some interesting & important information to pass along.
You’ll be shocked & amazed. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll wonder “why?”. I know I have…

Houston: Tuesday
Long, loooong day.
But it was, all things considered, a very interesting day.
No time or energy to write it up.
Sorry…
