While I’ve never been a fan of the hour-long results show, I must say that this one wasn’t all that bad. Well, with the exception of having to listen to the bottom 3 sing again. That’s never enjoyable. Thank goodness for Tivo!
As long as they keep it moving along like a cheezy variety show, I don’t even mind segments like the obligatory über-cheezy group number & the morbidly curious train-wreck phone-in questions. And bringing back Kat, well, that’s always a welcome sight & sound (for the record, Kat = Good/Hot but Kat’s Dress = Ick). Heck, even Jim Carey being a cross-promotional pimp was OK. The Ford pimp-video was OK, although the song this week wasn’t all that good. They need more Boston Terrier-based videos, like the one from the AI:5 Top 6 results show…
As for the actual, you know, results, those were pretty good too. I’ll say that I got my prediction about two-thirds right: Kristy & David H. were both in the bottom three, along with Syesha, who was one of the “At Risk-Middle” group. I’ll consider that a correct prediction. I thought that Hernandez should go, but that Kristy would go. I should’ve stayed with my gut. Even so, I’ll consider that to be half a correct prediction. Not too shabby.
The stripper got stripped off the show. And he actually seemed quite surprised about it, to boot. That reaction was priceless. How could he have been surprised? His performance was hideously bad, and he was stonewalling about his controversial recent past. Do contestants actually think that they can keep a lid on stuff like that any more? He was a (probably) gay stripper in a gay strip club. Most of America isn’t going to want to overlook that, at least not unless there’s a boatload of talent & performance mojo backing it up. And in this particular case, there wasn’t. Game over, thanks for playing, and too bad you didn’t make the tour…
That was a satisfying & welcome result. In the end, that’s all you can really ask for in a results show, knamean?
