WordPress 2.5

Well, I’ve jumped in & done the upgrade to the newest version of WordPress. Version 2.5 came out about a week ago, but I haven’t had the time to get to the upgrade, what with all the testing & checking for updated themes & plugins, until today.

Those who visit the site directly will notice a new theme has been installed. Not because I was necessarily dissatisfied with the old one, but more because I like to change things up every so often, and picking a new theme that was 2.5 ‘compliant’ seemed as good a reason as any.

I think that I was able to test things out enough to ensure that nothing is broken, but it’s almost a certainty that something will have slipped through the cracks. So, if you run into anything that doesn’t work right, please let me know by dropping me an email or just clicking on the ‘Contact’ link near the top of the page.

I’m holding off on 2.5 for a little bit, to see if the Gallery people will update their software to use the new password hashing.

Glen, hello. I ran across your site from your postings on the ALPB forum. I’m on there as well but rarely ever comment.

I also just upgraded my site to 2.5. Not sure if I like the new interface though.

Take care, Brian.

Dan: I held off about as long as I could - usually I end up installing upgrades sooner than I should. This time, work & other stuff kept me off the bleeding edge. Fortunately, all my ‘must have’ plugins work, and there’ve been enough improvements in the WP core that some of the other plugins I’ve been using aren’t needed.

Brian: Thanks for stopping by! The new admin interface is taking some getting used to. Overall, though, I think it’s a bit snappier, both in looks and performance. I’ll reserve final judgment until after I’ve used it for a while, though.

Ok, I just installed Disqus as a comment management app/tool/thing, and I’m seeing how, if at all, it works with new comments on posts that already had comments…
